Issue #13 16th August 2023
Principal's Update
Concert
‘Flashback: A Musical Journey Spanning Five Decades’ takes to the stage in three short weeks! If you haven’t yet bought your tickets, please prioritise this to happen soon or you will be at risk of missing out. From 26th August families will be able to purchase additional tickets. Tickets are on sale through The Art House Wyong, www.thearthousewyong.com.au or (02)43351485.
The kids are all doing a fantastic job; the songs, the dance moves, the energy they are bringing to the stage has been great to watch. By now you will have received a note from your child's teacher, listing the items they will need to wear/bring that you may have at home. These will be required during Week 7 for our full dress rehearsal. The concert is a compulsory event, and all children are expected to participate in both concerts (day and evening).
Yesterday you would have received a letter (in your child's bag) with details about the concert days; what happens on the day they are performing, as well as the day they are not. As all classroom teachers will be at The Art House for both performance days, school will operate in a ‘supervision only’ format for the alternate day to your child’s performance.
Please return the note as soon as possible, as this assists us in planning for the day your child will not be performing. Where possible, we ask you to consider keeping your child home for the day.
Father's Day
Father's Day celebrations are almost upon us. If you can help during the Father's Day Stall or Breakfast, please see the attached flyer and follow the signup link. Days such as these can only occur when parents help to run them.
Thurday 31st August: Father's Day Stall. All items must be prepaid through the Qkr! App by the closing date 24th August. We are unable to allow for any late orders to be processed.
Friday 1st September: Father's Day Breakfast and Liturgy. Our breakfast is free, but must be ordered through the Qkr! App by 24th August so that orders with local suppliers can be finalised. It is also important to add what time you expect to attend so that food can be prepared. Please order for your family under just one child's name.
Our liturgy will begin at 9.15am in the church, all dads are welcome to join us if they can. If you would like a photo sent in to be played in a slideshow during the liturgy and on Facebook, please see the details below of how to do this.
Uniform
Every child is required to have black leather school shoes and the correct school socks. Black joggers or other ‘casual’ black shoes are not part of our school uniform. The required socks for girls are white anklet socks while boys must be in grey fold down school socks with bottle green & gold stripes.
Hair that is shoulder-length or longer must be tied back (boys and girls) and only small sleepers or studs are to be worn, no dangly earrings. Children should not wear nail polish. Predominately white sport shoes are required, as is a school hat and school bag.
These uniform requirements have been unchanged for at least 10 years that I can remember and were also the requirements when your child started at the school. We would appreciate all families supporting our uniform requirements.
Book Parade
As our school concert will be on during the time we would traditionally celebrate Book Week, we will be holding a Book Parade on Tuesday 19th September (Week 10) to celebrate Book Week.
